Opportunities For Change began with a simple belief: everyone deserves the chance to rebuild, and no one should have to do it alone.

We are a Santa Clara County nonprofit serving adults who are starting over after incarceration, treatment, or time without a home. Our approach is grounded in lived experience, positive coaching, and steady support, because the people guiding this work have walked the same road.

Among the people we serve, 98% have experienced homelessness, 90% have been previously incarcerated, and 88% have struggled with addiction. These numbers show both the depth of need and what becomes possible with housing, accountability, and support.

Who we are.

Terrell Pina

CO-FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Terrell is a leadership and addiction recovery professional. Before OFC, he was Director of Production at The Salvation Army, managing the largest Western US Donation Collection Center. In 2019 he entered the work therapy program as a residential client, then was hired and moved up the management ranks, honing his counseling skills by supporting men in recovery. A U.S. Army veteran, he now dedicates his skills to OFC while pursuing his BA in Psychology. His pride and joy is raising his daughter.

Rachel Songer

CO-FOUNDER, OPERATIONS & PROGRAM LEADERSHIP

Rachel has dedicated 29 plus years to service and leadership as an Officer in The Salvation Army, caring for the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of community members. She served as Executive Leader across 11 appointments and 12 plus departments, from homeless camps to donor and grant management, in six states from Alaska to Arizona. She is completing her BA in English. Her pride and joy are her five children.

Mary Ng Dooley

CO-FOUNDER, TECHNOLOGY & SOCIOECONOMIC ACCESS

Mary is a champion for fair access to socioeconomic opportunity. After 35 plus years in Banking and Tech, she turned to nonprofits, working as a K-8 Chief Technical Officer and a preschool teacher. She holds a BA in Art and Art History and leads OFC’s work to keep technology and opportunity within reach for the people we serve.
